Culture, Medical Care and Sports
Culture, news, publishing, television and broadcasting industries have developed well. In 2006, there are 14 art troupes of all sorts, 147 art and culture centers, 8 museums, 14 archives and 8 public libraries, 136 cultural relics protection units, 12 of which are at the national level. 1.132 billion copies of newspapers, 70 million copies of magazines and 243 million books are issued in the year. The mixed coverage rate of broadcasting and TV are 100% and 99.85% respectively.
Medical services have developed remarkably. By the end of 2006, there are 2285 medical organizations including 162 hospitals. The first charity hospital and the first patient-benefited hospital are established in Shandong province. 7.5 million yuan of medical charges is exempted by different medical organizations. There are 114 community hygiene service departments in urban areas which benefit 2.02 million people.
Outstanding achievements have been made in sports. Athletes of Jinan win 3 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 4 bronze medals in world competitions, 11 gold medals in continental competitions and 35 gold medals, 20 silver medals, 13 bronze medals in national competitions.
