City construction has been facilitated. In 2006, the investment in road construction reaches 3.9 billion yuan. 480 kilometers of road and 218 kilometers of river course are constructed or renovated. By the end of the year, the greenbelt coverage rate is 39.2% and the average public greenbelt area per person is 9.1 square meters, an increase of 0.1 square meter.

Environmental conditions remain at a steady level. The quality of air has obviously improved. Air quality of 307 days is fine, an increase of 45 days which accounts for 84.1% of the whole year. Groundwater and audio conditions remain at a fine level. 

Living conditions of both urban and rural people have greatly improved. In 2006, the disposable income of urban people is 15340.2 yuan per person, an increase of 13% and the net income of the farming population is 5480.0 yuan per person, an increase of 13.9%.

Now, Jinan has relations in economy, science, technology and culture with more than 100 countries and regions. Jinan has established sister-city relations with 13 foreign cities, including Wakayama and Yamaguchi of Japan, Coventry of the United Kingdom, Sacramento of the United States, Regina in Canada, capital area of Papua New Guinea, Suwon of South Korea, Nizhny Novgrod of Russia, Wanda of Finland, Rennes of France, Augsburg of Germany , Joondalup of Australia and Kharkiv of Ukraine .
